Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)

Course Overview
The Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) has been designed by the American Academy of Paediatrics and American Heart Association to teach an evidence-based approach to resuscitation of the newborn. The causes, prevention, and management of mild to severe neonatal asphyxia are carefully explained so that health professionals may develop optimal knowledge and skill in resuscitation.

This course is an educational program that introduces the concepts and basic skills of neonatal resuscitation. It has been designed for health care professionals involved in any aspect of neonatal resuscitation, including physicians, nurses, advanced practice nurses, nurse midwives, licensed midwives, respiratory care practitioners, and other healthcare professionals who provide direct care during neonatal resuscitation.

In the classroom, students engage in Instructor-led power point presentation with video simulation and learning stations. Students work with an NRP Instructor to complete skills practice and skills testing. Students also complete a written multiple choice exam.
